Winning the pitch to help change the visual style of Leighton was always going to be special for me, as a fresh-faced graphic design student I stupidly declined a six-month placement here in favour of a permanent role at another Sunderland based agency. That role lasted around five months…
This rebrand for me was always about ‘unfinished business’.
Leighton at the time was a large orgainsation undergoing a big change and as such, they needed a big step change in terms of a consistent and modern look and feel. Working with the internal team to define the brand through workshops, audits and a brand narrative helped shape the creative direction and the starting point of all visuals – the logo.
The logo created was bold and comprised a suite of six colours, two for each ‘pillar’ of their brand – ‘Tech. Talent. Together’. This brave new style was applied to a range of collateral which helped showcase Leighton as the digital transformation experts they truly are.
16 years on they begrudgingly accepted my apology for declining that placement… I think.
